Good Keywords.com is the location of two products created by Indian-based Softnik Technologies. The most robust tool, Bid Reporter Professional used to be known as Good Keywords Professional.
Closely associated is a free tool still called Good Keywords. This tool, like many similar ones found within other PPC tools, allows you to type in a word to tell you how many times the search word was searched for over the last month using Overture. With its limitation only to Overture searches and no real definition of what counts as a “search”, this tool is of fairly limited use and does not offer anything new to the marketplace. The website is a little confusing as to which is the "free" product and which isn't at this point.
The product for sale, PPC Bid Reporter Professional, itself studies the patterns of bidders and just who those bidders are at search engine properties including “Overture, Espotting, FindWhat, and others”.
A feature of the program called “Site Popularity Meter” uses Alexa to judge how your ad ranks compared with others. Since Alexa currently only serves Windows browsers, the results will not be totally accurately. In addition, you will need to recheck your rankings every week or so, as Alexa refreshes its rankings that frequently.
More promising is a feature called Link Popularity which displays the number of websites linking to your site (as found by search engines such as Altavista, Lycos, MSN, and Google.
When one runs a keyword through the tool, PPC Bid Reporter returns back a report containing information on the first, last and median bid at various search engines, the ranking of the keyword in 12 different search engines, if your competitors are using Google AdWords, and are these ads effective? Overture PPC results are also shown and a featured called Bid Trend View show the cost versus rank charts of all the PPC search engines in one screen. You can also save different scenarios to Excel spreadsheets and download them for comparison later.
Overall, Bid Reporter Professional promises a lot, but the screenshots and readouts do not appear to offer much new or different from other similar tools, and with the lack of definition of important terms relative to the PPC market, it is difficult to judge if this software is worth its cost. It appears simplistic and does not allow the user to auto-bid or make mass changes to their other ad campaigns on a campaign-wide basis, unlike other similar tools.
Bid Reporter is probably most useful for those just starting out who are really uncertain about how to approach keywords and the whole concept of PPC as a whole. With a couple of experiments under their belt, they could then make better use of the software to improve their PPC ad campaign positions. However, even for the beginner, the website has its challenges to use.
